Business Problem
Client wanted an Information System that will be a corporate and business performance reporting systems for the Top Management. Client business is structured around various dimensions like nature of business, technology options, customer size and business segments, products and services, payment basis, geographies. For top management to make informed business decision they need to see key performance indices (KPIs) across different dimensions.

Solution
Using commercial off the shelf (COTS) products a highly scalable, available and extensible Executive Information System (EIS) was built. Data is collected from various business systems and aggregated in a data mart. On top of this data mart a portal based Front End Solution is built that provides

A holistic view in a summarized format while providing drill down
   capability as required
Quantifiably tracking Strategic Initiatives
Customized to top management needs for information
Linked to personal Balance Score Cards of the top management
Aligned to the transformed Bharti organization


Project
This project is delivered in multiple project phases. Typical project phase cycle is 9 months. An offshore team of 12 engineers is involved in developing and testing this solution. These engineers have following skills:

Rich User Interface Design
Java/J2EE and XML development
Websphere Portal Server development
DB2 Database Architecture
Business Object OLAP report development
Integration testing, test automation, performance testing and tuning


Technologies
This solution is built using all COTS products. Base platform is built on IBM Websphere Portal Server (WPS), Application server (WAS), DB2, Tivoli Access Manager, Business Object WEBI OLAP reporting platform, Java/J2EE, XML, ETL tools. Rational Unified Process (RUP) was used as project methodology. ClearCase was used as source repository.
